It seems that the "HOT!" section of the Community Support, favorites the posts with the most UP (+1) Votes. This feel natural ofcource. But with time things tends to cool down and so does the weight of the UP-Votes.

My suggestion is that for every day, any post automaticcaly gets some kind of negative value added to the UP-Votes number and then the "HOT!" factor is calculated. In that way there will be different "HOT!" posts over time. Now it feels more like a high score list which i have read over and over again.

The UP-Votes will ofcource remain unchanged.

Example for how the calculation may be done.

HOT! = UP-Votes + (days old * -0.25)

Using this formula (ofcource -0.25 colud de any other suitable number choosen by the admin) the HOT! list will change more and letting other posts a chance to reach the top.

Only thing is when someone votes UP this means that some "HOTNESS" is added to the post so the negative number should not be so great that the UP-Vote is eaten up to quickly.

== edit ==

I just discovered that there is a counter for how many "views" a post have. So this may also be taken in the equation. So perhaps the formula should look something like: HOT! = UP-Votes + (days old * -0.25) + (views * 0,25)

and also the number of answers and comments should have some meaning to the value of how "HOT!" a post is.

Hope you will find my suggestion of interest.

Updated my answer a bit. There actually are ways to tweak how different factors are weighted against each other.
Okay. I did not realize you used a thirs party system for the forums but ofcource that is a big time saver for you. I completely understand that you jave more things to do than the hours of the day admit. I want to say that my posts are suggestions and not complains and im sure you take them as suggestions. PGC is wonderful resource. thnx.
I do understand your points and that it's friendly suggestions. Don't worry about that. All feedback is appreciated, even though it might not always sound like it.

The QA software is a third party software and not something that we will adjust such things in.

EDIT:  There actually were a few factors to tweak in the settings, and I have changed it a bit. Something we might come back to later on to try to tweak it harder, but it will be easier in the future when we have more data.
