ampersan not allowed in input for profile

Question

I don't success in typing some profile containing the sign ampersan "&", is there a specific method to signal this sign at input or is there some bug using this?

 

Nice fature to show similar comments!. See it was supposed to be ok in another tread,

Today 19 Nov, I still have this problem: impossible to type ampersan in the input selction of a profile. Exemple, would like to see statistics for: "Jacko&Ninie", impossible to enter this pseudo, same for "HA&Co"

No, this looks like a bug. I can't enter "&" either (using Chrome on Linux). I know for a fact that this has been possible before.

At this moment, with a new PC, new version of chrome I still have problem to enter the sign '&' to select a pseudo containing this sign. See here after the precise steps I take. There is a workaround but annoying because i have more and more known people with this sign '&' in their pseudo. the workaround works but is tedious. It still doesn't work for me with the link indicated here under in mail 19Nov. Could anybody indicate if he/she has the same problem with other browser? Is there any problem with a PC set on another language? (here set in Français Belgique)

i was just reviewing all my entries not yet closed and test this one.

Still some problem to enter the '&' sign ampersan in a profile name entry field.

It's not a problem for me, but could be disapointing some new users.

Situation 28/12/2015 using chrome

 

example: I distinguish typing box and selection box

Searching for 'Doriane & Romain'

typing box 'd'...'o'...'r'...'i'...'a'...'n' --> a lot of names proposed in the selection box

typing box 'e' --> the pseudo 'Doriane & Romain' appears at top of possible pseudos in selection box

typing ' ' --> still same

typing '&' --> cursor change from top to bottom of selection, but the '&' doesn't appears in the typing box field. Like if the entry is blocked for entering the '&' sign.in typing box

Anyway it is possible to select the pseudo from the selection box with the mouse or by the <enter> key

No, it's not that easy. It's definitely a bug.

If I just write "&", it works.
If I try to write "Jacko&", the "&" doesn't appear.
If I try to write "Jacko &", the "&" doesn't appear.
If I try to write "Jacko o&", it works.
Hm.
So I try again, and it works. Hm again.
I know I've tried "Bo & Elisabeth" before, and it worked. I try now and it fails. I try again, and it works. And again, and it works.

After some head-scratching: If you manage to type up to and including "&" before the dropdown with suggestions appears, then you can type "&". If the dropdown has appeared, you can't write "&".

If the dropdown has already appeared, you can type something that isn't in any of the suggested alternatives so that the dropdown disappears, and then you can type "&" again (and remove whatever incorrect character you just wrote). Or you can type really quickly so that you get to "&" before the dropdown appears. Or even write the "&" first and put the rest of the name in afterwards.

Ok, after a lot of testing by pinkunicorn he finally realized a part of the issue, when he manage to explain it to me, I could also solve it.

Writing the & sign in the input field should work properly now.

Thanks pinkunicorn, You give me a workaround typing the whole common letters then coming back in the input file to place the sign '&'.
But ganja1447, sorry, but today 23/11, In french, in the page "Statistiques du profil", bug still exist, when typing in sequence, the '&' doesn't appears and so the choice isn't proposed in the dropbox.
The workaround is well to type every normal character, then going back to insert the '&'

Very tricky, still no working in certain conditions.

In Vista, Chrome
Goal request a statistics for the user 'Jacko&Ninie'
go to Profile stat menu

Explanation:
Typing 'J', 8 users starting by 'J' are proposed
Typing 'a', 8 users starting by 'Ja' are proposed
Typing 'c', 8 users starting by 'Jac' are proposed
Typing 'k', 8 users starting by 'Jack' are proposed (including 'Jack & Ace')
Typing 'o', 8 users starting by 'Jacko' are proposed (including 'Jacko Brain')

if the last proposition of 8 choice is still shown at the screen
Typing'&', the character isn't taken into account

if we go to another page on the browser, and come back to the one of GC-project
The field with 8 propositions isn't shown anymore
Typing '&', the character IS taken into account AND the choice 'Jacko&Ninie' is displayed as the only possible choice.

So the problem appears only to me when I type in sequence 'J' 'a' 'c' 'k' 'o' showing intermediates 8 choices and blocks when I type the '&'.
It is not the case when the pre-selection of 8 from the previous string is not shown at the screen when typing '&'
It is also workable if I type the whole without special character 'JackoNinie' then come back with cursor to insert the '&'
