Sometimes the containers for archived are still at the location they should be, and even if the cache listing is archived, the cache can still be logged. Some people even enjoy geo-archaeology, meaning to figure out which archived caches are still likely to be in place and log them. If the cache is still in reasonably good shape I would recommend that you leave it where it is, even though the cache listing is archived.

That there is an archived cache in a spot does not stop someone from placing a new cache in the same location. If the old cache is still there I would recommend that the new cache is placed far enough from the archived cache so that people don't accidentally find the wrong container, but there are no rules for this.
