I'm a full paid up member, so my stats get updated once per day.

Each time I update my stats I can see that all my info is correct except 1 thing, my awarded Favourite Points.

For some reason this stat is always several days out of date.

This has been the 'norm' since I first noticed it over a year ago. I'm just curious as to why that particular stat doesn't get updated accurately like the others?

Cheers,

This is probably due to people adding FPs after originally posting their log. If the FP is added immediately, we'll see it at the same time as the log. If your log has already been processed when the FP is added, then it can take some time (probably until the next time the cache is logged) until we find your FP.

I would go along with this - I can happily say that when we are given fav points at the time the caches are logged these do show up the next day - it is not often that fav points are added retrospectively but I would say it is on these occasions that the delay occurs
Hi Pinkunicorn,

Thanks for that answer. That makes complete sense for anyone adding FP's after they have posted their log, but I would need to clarify what you mean by "after". If you mean that they go back some days/weeks later then I agree, but if you mean that they log their find, and then go back say within the hour and add a FP then should that make such a difference?

For the FP's I'm talking about, they are given at the time of posting as I can see them show up immediately on my Geocaching.com 'Hides' page. I am monitoring it closely at the moment as I'm eager to attain another Gemstone at 150 FP's, and I'm currently (as of right now) on 149 having been awarded another one yesterday. I'm hoping that my PGC stats will mirror that at my next refresh, but often it won't show any new FP's until 48 to 72 hours later.
I mean exactly what I say: If your log has already been processed by Project-GC when the FP is added, then it will take longer to be detected. The time it takes for Project-GC to detect and process a log is variable, so the time window that a FP can be added after posting the online log is therefore also variable (and difficult to foresee).
Ok, again thanks for your reply.
I'll give you some specific details so you can say whether this particular instance is normal or not. I don't know what time zone you are in, but if I state everything relative to Seattle time then at least I will be consistent.
My last FP was awarded to me (as notified by an e-mail from Geocaching.com) on Sunday 19th, at 2.32pm Seattle time.
I've just updated my stats and it is still not showing up yet.
I'll check again at my next refresh tomorrow :)
I take it your are referring to the fav point awarded on Peligroso! (Kaiwaka) that hasn't appeared on PGC stats.
Not sure if the timing is an issue the log was for 18th
You got the email at 11.32 am on the 20th (your time)
Though late logging shouldn't be an issue, I am sure it'll all catch up
Yes, that's the one I'm referring to. Obviously the FP can only be awarded at the point of logging (or afterwards as discussed) rather than the date of the find, so assuming that the e-mail automatically generated happens at the same time as the logging, then that is when the clock starts ticking for me.
I'm sure it will catch up too, it always has. But I'm naturally curious as to why this particular stat out of all of them seems to lag, when all other stats appear to update instantaneously (subject to the once every 24 hrs limit).
My next stat refresh will be in an hour or so, so I'll report back again after that :)

Edit: After the latest refresh, still nothing. I'll try again tomorrow :(
You mean the email "Project-GC FP notifications"? If so, no. That's generated daily and lists all the FPs awarded (and detected so far) over the last day. It's not triggered by the logging but just sent once daily.
No, I meant the e-mail notification from Groundspeak that someone has logged one of my caches.
I have noted the email generated by GC doesn't always have the bit at the bottom saying fav point awarded even if it has been.
I would assume that means that the FP was added after initially saving the online log. Quite often I forget to add the FP when writing the log so that I have to add it manually immediately afterwards. That's probably enough for the FP not to be listed at the bottom of the log mail to the CO, but if you would then immediately follow the link in the mail to the cache, it would show the extra FP.
Hi again DDM.
That would be a fair point (and I agree with pinkunicorn in that I often forget to add a FP until after I submit my online log), so I went back and checked the e-mail from GC and in this particular case the e-mail shows that the finder did award a FP at the time of logging.
I did not check my stats yesterday (Sat) but just to update you that my stats are now (Sun) showing the correct figure of 149 so it has obviously caught up in the last 24 hours or so.
Having been a software Beta tester before, unfortunately not checking my stats yesterday means I inadvertently added another variable to the mix so I cannot be sure whether NOT checking stats for a period in excess of 24 hrs makes any difference, or whether the FP would have been found regardless in this instance.
So whilst I'm happy that it has caught up, in my mind I haven't completely isolated the causes of the initial delays.
Next time I get awarded a FP (as notified by GC) I may have to conduct a couple of experiments around accessing my PGC stats to see if I can't narrow down the circumstances which cause the delay...watch this space.

Thanks for all your replies (both of you), and keep up the good work :)
