I did the Gulf of Maine GeoTour GT62 2 years ago. I've earned the souvenir. It shows up in Geocaching.com AND in my project-GC.com stats (in its own category). In my profile stats/collected attributes, GeoTour shows 0. Do you have any idea why?

I sent the question about the GeoTour attribute to geocaching HQ. Their answer: "GeoTours are not always permanent. Some only exist for a short period of time, but in most cases the geocaches will remain if they are maintained."

I just picked up an out-of-date GeoTour :)

Thanks everybody for your help.

Reviewing the traditional and Earth caches published in that GeoTour, I don't see any with the attribute GeoTour selected in the Attributes section.  I should think that would be a fundamental requirement for the system to pick it up as a GeoTour.

Resolving this is another matter and I can't advise. Each of the published caches would need the attribute GeoTour added by the COs.   Perhaps someone else can provide better information on how to resolve.

Based on subsequent answers, it isn't COs that can add the attribute but only HQ.  My original thought was that but I didn't want to write it until I knew for certain.

The GeoTour attribute is special in that it can't be added to a cache by the CO. It's added to caches that belong to a GeoTour which is a promotion thing and that is associated with a cost for the organization creating the GeoTour. If this cost is not paid each year, the caches will be delisted from being an active GeoTour which means that they will have the GeoTour attribute removed from them. If any caches in a GeoTour are archived while still being part of a GeoTour, they keep their GeoTour attribute, though.

Just to add an  observation - not all caches in a Geotour need the attribute for it to function as a Geotour.

We have found 24 Geotour caches, but we only have 21 collected Geotour Attributes in our profile. So we decided to check all 24 caches for attributes and found that In our completed Geotour (Royal Deeside in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, which had 20 of our 24 Geotour found caches), only 17 of them actually have the attribute. The other 4 we have found all have the attribute, thus making the 21.
Each cache in a GeoTour should always have the attribute selected since not everyone can complete the entire tour.  If any are absent and someone can only get the cache without it, they won't see the attribute show up in statistics and that isn't very workable or even fair.
More helpful information regarding costs of GeoTours.  I'm sure it started out that way but the funding dried up so they stopped paying the fee and the attribute dropped away.

As far as I know only one cache would need the attribute GeoTour to see it in the profile stats. If the GeoTour has 10 caches and all of them have the attribute GeoTour, you would see 10 in your profile stats.

But the GeoTour attribute can't be selected / added by the COs itself. As I heard the CO has to contact HQ as only the HQ can add the GeoTour attribute to the cache.

Thanks for the information on who can add the GeoTour attribute.  Now I know how that works.
