Can anyone explain how amounts of discovered/moved travel bugs for BadgeGen / The Travel Bug are measured? The explanation with the badge is that it is awarded for moving/discovering x travel bugs. But looking at the amounts that are found by BadgeGen, I get the impression that only travel bugs that are named as "Travel Bug Dog Tags" are counted.

Putting any coins aside (which is simple, as almost all coins carry the word "geocoins" or "coin" in their name), I would expect that any other trackables not being coins would have to be counted for as travel bugs. So travel bugs like "Jeep 4x4 Travel Bugs", "Unite for Diabetes Travel Bugs", "Cachekinz", "Tracker the Labrador Travel Tags" and "Travel Bug Origins - Canada" should all be counted as travel bugs and added to the total, right?

I can't see that being done by the output of the current scripts though, so I'm not sure if I don't understand what specific travel bugs are meant in BadgeGen (like indeed only counting a limited set of all travel bugs), or that the current scripts are too limited and should be extended to include all trackables not being coins?

Thanks in advance.

Look at your profile page. There you see at the "Trackables for user: NLBokkie" the count for "Travel Bug Dog Tags"

This is what the BadgeGen is using. All other items are seen as "Coins"

Hi Vogelbird,

Thanks for the confirmation of what I already was thinking. I'm just not sure if it is correct to think of all other travel bugs as "coins", as plenty of them are not. All the examples I mentioned in my mail above are actual travel bugs (usually with dog tags to go with them), not coins. So the question remains if BadgeGen should include these as well?
In my opinion the best way to fix this problem would be to have one single badge for trackables.
The real problem is what is a The Travel Bug  and what is a geocoin? and why only those two?
Groundspeek only talks about Trackables.
If you get the trackable information in the API  the only  difference between them are the BugTypeID , namen and image url.
Nothing in the data talks about coins or Travel Bugs.
I suspect the difference is that the classical Travel Bug Dog Tags has bee so popular and users have made a distinction. And new Travel bug types has been created without some indication in groundspeeks database and therefore an automatic and correct desctinction is not possible.
A question if that are the two goups of trackeble. Is a trackable t-shirt a coin or a travelbug?

By the way why only use to groups. GClitle helper on NLBokkie gives 4 types ans some unknown

What is Travel bugs and what is coins follows the rules by Badgegen. The text below the second screenshot at this page describes it quite well.

I have personally tried to figure out the difference according to Groundspeak, but I honestly have no clue at all.
