It would be much easier, thats right. Until then you could check out if you can find the county map for the county on wikipedia for example and then use it and take the pgc map and overlay it in a graphics program and resize them until they are fitting on the borders. Then lower the opacity of the pgc map and you can read the name of the counties. Might be necessary to move the map a little, because the maps have not 100% the same borders, but much easier than the google way.
