The altitude statistics of a cache seem to consider only the published coordinates, while it should consider the highest located step for e.g. multi-caches for highest location statistics and lowest for lowest location statistics or at least the final step.

This would be nice. However, if project-gc can't access the hidden "final" waypoints, it would be difficult to implement this sad

Exactly. This is technically impossible.
OK! Are all visible steps used?
No they are not. We believe that it's quite standard to use the plotted coordinates only. Due to how elevation is determined and what elevation data exists for the world, in 99% of the cases it wouldn't give any more accurate result anyway.
