Recently, we've tried to reach the Diamond badge in "Attribute Cacher".

It said that we are missing one attribute to get there. Last weekend, we logged a "partnership cache" which should have filled the missing  gap but we are still stuck at the Emerald badge.

That's when I noticed that the attribute count in the badge (in our case 107) is not the same as the one on the "finds"-page (in our case 68 positive + 41 negative attributes = 109).

Is there something I'm missing or is the counter really off by 2?

The Partnership attribute is extremely rare, so it isn't included in the count of different attributes. Instead, you get a Partnership addon on your attribute badge if you have logged a cache with the Partnership attribute. The attribute that you need is the Scuba gear required attribute. (The Lost and Found tour attribute is discontinued (it was only available in 2010), so that also isn't included in the attribute count but gives an addon instead.)

The badge and the finds page also don't count in the same way. The finds page simply lists all the attributes you have found. The badge does not include the Needs Maintenance attribute, since that's an attribute that a cache isn't really supposed to have. Also, as above, the badge doesn't count the Partnership attribute.

Thank you for clarifying these differences. :)
Seeing that there are more attributes than than the required maximum for the diamond badge, we concluded that we could choose which ones we log (knowing that the L&F is not available anymore). But then, we'll have to look for a scuba cache instead. Probably more difficult than the Partnership cache but eventually...
There are lots more scuba caches than partnership caches available even though scuba is also one of the more unusual attributes - there are only five active partnership caches in all of Europe. But once you get close to one, the partnership caches are probably much easier to log than the scuba caches. ;)
